I know Halloween hasn’t officially arrived, but Christmas isn’t far behind. Today, I’m happy to welcome my friend Tammy Tate back to my blog with a FREE ebook sure to put you in the holiday mood. And, psst…it’s her birthday. What a fun way to celebrate! 🙂

~ooOOoo~

Book cover for The Christmas Cruise by author Tammy Tate shows attractive young couple embracing in front of a cruise shipThank you, Mae, for inviting me to your wonderful blog, today! I’m always delighted to be here and knock around checking out your latest findings about ghosts, myths and legends. I’m also thrilled to share my latest release, THE CHRISTMAS CRUISE.

It’s almost that time again! And, like the last two years, I have written another holiday story to warm the heart, make you smile and say “I didn’t see that coming!”

As you know, romance is my passion! Unfortunately, I can’t stop there. I have to sprinkle in mystery, or paranormal, or time travel and a dash of humor. THE CHRISTMAS CRUISE is no exception. Taking a cruise during the Christmas holidays isn’t the norm, but then again, neither am I…LOL

THE CHRISTMAS CRUISE, is a time-travel romance about Ally who lets her friends talk her into taking a cruise over the holidays, leaving Miami, Florida going to Bermuda. It takes them along the edge of the notorious Bermuda Triangle. But, with a tropical storm brewing in the Atlantic, the captain sails deeper into the heart of the Triangle so the passengers can still enjoy the trip topside around the pool.

Right away Ally is attracted to Brad, who heads up the ship’s security. Who wouldn’t be? He’s gorgeous, buff and has incredible eyes. Only problem is, he tends to be a little on the arrogant side, but charmingly arrogant. The first evening on the ship he gets bad news regarding his ex-girlfriend and drinks himself into a stupor. He goes from arrogant to full-fledge jerk. Good looking or not, Ally vows to never speak to him again.

Of course, that’s before a mysterious fog creeps across the bow of the boat and they get up close and personal with the legendary Bermuda Triangle!

Fact or fiction, I’ll let you decide 🙂

Then the ship encounters an eerie green mist and they wake up on a deserted island. Now they must pull together to survive a dangerous storm, a waterspout, and evil pirates. As their relationship grows, they have to confront the biggest threat of all…their feelings for each other.

Excerpt for THE CHRISTMAS CRUISE

Curious to know his business aboard the ship, she asked, “Do you work here?”

“Define, work.”

She rolled her eyes. “I don’t play word games, Mister—”

“McNeal,” he said. “Agent McNeal, at your service.”

“So, Mr. McNeal, are you here on business or pleasure?”

He shrugged a broad shoulder. “Normally, I escort the president. This is what I get for requesting a vacation.”

“Does that mean pleasure?”

“Business. I’m in charge of security.”

Stunned by his odd demeanor, Ally shook her head but recovered quickly. “Should I be worried?”

He lifted a dark brow. “If I told you, I would have to kill you.”

She paused, at his bluntness. What if he wasn’t an agent at all but a stowaway? Or worse. An unhinged killer impersonating one of the ship’s staff.

He tossed back his head and laughed. “I’m kidding—”

She blinked. “About which part—”

“Killing you—”

“I knew that…”

“Liar.”

“Excuse me, but, I don’t think the captain would approve of you calling one of his passengers, a liar. Especially not one paying for a luxury suite.”

“I know where you’re staying, Miss. Collins.”

Author Tammy Tate
Tammy Tate was born and raised in Hollywood, Florida but has lived most of her adult life in Texas. Her passion to write began in high school. It follows her everywhere she goes…creating a world where anything is possible. She’s been married to the same wonderful man for over thirty-five years. Her secret to a long marriage? It’s easy when you marry your best friend. In her world, Friday night is still date night. Before she became a full-time author, she was an Executive Secretary, a Computer Consultant/Technician, and a Communications Officer (Police Dispatcher). She doesn’t mind a challenge which has allowed her to race a late-model in a women’s powder puff race, run barrels and poles in a play-day rodeo and drive an 18-wheeler. Somewhere in between, she and her husband raised three wonderful children. When she’s not breathing life into her characters or jotting down ideas for a new book, she’s engaged with her fans on social media or curled up with a good book. Since she believes reading is the next best thing to writing, she enjoys romance, paranormal, fantasy, horror and thrillers. In December of 2013, she signed her first book contract with a traditional publisher. Her books have made Amazon’s Best Seller list.

Book cover for Sundial shows ornate white gates partially open with bright light behind themBlurb:
He came through time to find her.

As Sarah Miles drives down Eighteenth Street a stranger materializes in front of her car. She throws on her brakes, braces for impact and…drives straight through him. For a brief moment, his voice echoes in her head, “Saura.” Then he’s gone. Later that day, she discovers the SUNDIAL and her incredible journey through time begins.

Excerpt:
“Let go, dammit.”

She let go and fell, landing on her rump in the soggy marsh grass.

He looked down at her as he gathered his reins. “Next time, throw your leg all the way over and don’t kick the poor beast to death. I wish I could say it’s been a pleasure. What I can say, with certainty, is it’s been damn peculiar.” He tightened his knees. The stallion reared, making her scoot backwards on her bottom.

He gave her an elegant half-bow. “Ma’am.”

Heat flashed behind her eyes. “You always were an arrogant bastard.” Nerves pricked her skin.  How would I know that?

“And you were always an imp of Satan,” he shot back. The words were no sooner out than a look of bewilderment settled over his handsome features.

For one frozen moment his gaze met hers. Time fell away. Recognition leaped between them.

Her heart jumped and her breath quickened.

He made a violent motion with his hand, rejection stamped on his face. He wheeled his horse and raced away.

Fifteenth-Century Highland Warrior Listens to Billy Joel… And Likes It

Thank you, Mae, for hosting me on my release day!

I’m really excited about my new release CHOOSING THE HIGHLANDER. This one is #3 in my Highland Wishes series, and it features a hero and heroine readers might remember from WISHING FOR A HIGHLANDER, Constance and Wilhelm.

Writing this one was super fun, because Connie is from 1981. As I researched this era, I remembered so many fun things about the 80’s.

Remember when a Sony Walkman was the height of technology? If you had one that could record as well as play back, you were one of the cool kids. As a child of the 80’s I remember those days well.

I remember the day I got my first Walkman and I wanted to play it for everyone at our family gathering. I was completely unprepared for the fact that there was no speaker, only headphones. I was like, “What? You can’t use it like a boom-box?”

I remember sharing music with a friend by detaching one of the headphones and holding it out in invitation. I remember making mix tapes by hovering over my father’s boom-box and hitting record and play as quickly as possible when a song I love started up on the radio. I would go through packs of batteries listening to mix tapes on my Walkman.

This little miracle of music delivery is by FAR my favorite product of the 1980s. In fact, a Walkman plays a pivotal role in CHOOSING THE HIGHLANDER.

To celebrate release day, I’m hosting a Rafflecopter giveaway on my blog. Drop by to enter the giveaway and take a fun 1980’s toy quiz. Skip directly to the giveaway here, if you want to enter with minimum clicks!

CHOOSING THE HIGHLANDER

As a mechanical engineer in 1981 Chicago, Connie designs plumbing systems. She has also designed her life to perfection, right down to the man she hopes to marry. But when Mr. Right proposes, she can’t say yes. A head-clearing vacation brings her to the Scottish Highlands, where her free-spirited twin wishes for Connie to find true love. Neither sister expects the wish to send Connie hurtling five hundred years into the past.

Wilhelm Murray, heir to the barony of Dornoch, hopes to one day hold a seat in parliament and bring urgently needed reform to Scotland. But everything changes when a woman slated for execution proclaims her innocence using the most peculiar language. Powerfully attracted to the brave beauty, he rescues her even though it means becoming a fugitive and forfeiting his dream.

As Connie and Wilhelm evade capture, she discovers his passion for justice. Scotland needs his ideas. It needs him. And so does she. But in order to clear Wilhelm’s name, she will have to turn her back on everything she’s worked so hard for and embrace the magic of love.

EXCERPT

“Tell me your name,” he commanded.

Her eyes flashed in that way of hers that told him she didn’t make a habit of following orders. Och, her brazen spirit drew him from the moment he first saw her, when she’d been demanding Ruthven let her go despite being nude, bound, gagged, and outnumbered. Such bravery! Such intrepid determination!

“You told me no questions tonight.” Her voice scratched like sun dried wool not yet tamed into softness. The damage to her tender throat and lungs made him lust to slay her abusers all over again. Noticeably absent was her feigned English speech.

He suppressed a grin, wondering if she’d done it intentionally. “Simply telling me your name would have required fewer words than the rebuke, my lady, if your throat pains thee.”

“It wasn’t a rebuke.” A look of affront tugged her eyebrows low over those captivating eyes. How was it her every expression affected his viscera? With each change in her features, his stomach leapt and dove like a hawk in pursuit of prey. “Only a reminder.” The briefest flicker of nervousness belied the stubborn lift of her chin.

The kiss had made her uncertain. Before, she’d approached him as an adversary, though why she should do so, he could not guess. Now, she recognized the connection between them, but, if he guessed correctly, she feared it.

The lass needed time. She needed food and rest. He would ask no more of her tonight. Not even her name. It mattered not. His heart knew her regardless of what she called herself.

“Consider me reminded, sweet lady.”

Mae Clair Presents: Tammy Tate and The Spirit Path #timetravel #romance

I’m delighted to welcome a new author today. Tammy Tate has just released her debut novel, THE SPIRIT PATH, a time-travel romance. If you’ve followed my blog for a while, you know I tend to get hyper-jazzed over time travel novels. I absolutely LOVE the cover of this one. Stunning and gorgeous doesn’t begin to cover it. Be prepared to drool, but first let’s meet Tammy!

Tammy, you’ve got an extremely cool bio and clearly have a diverse background—from Police Dispatcher, to Powder Puff racing and driving an 18-wheeler, you’ve no doubt got a plethora of ideas to use in novels. But let’s talk about your writing background. What initially got you penning stories and how long have you been at it?

My love for writing actually started in high school with a story about a girl that ran away from home and it was clearly a ‘why you shouldn’t run away from home’ masterpiece! She stumbled across every dangerous situation you could imagine. My teacher at the time was so impressed he wanted to share it with an influential acquaintance. The problem was, I never finished it. For some reason as a senior I thought about football rallies, prom and graduation first. Go figure…

LOL! I remember being a bit “distracted” myself in high school. What attracts you most to your chosen genre?

I’m a romantic at heart. But I don’t stop there! I like to toss in a dash of humor and sprinkle it with action. I make my characters work for their roles in my books and the fun part is watching them spring to life right before my eyes. The hard part is getting it down fast enough as it pours out onto the keyboard. That’s when they make me work equally as hard to keep pace with them.

Book cover for The Spirit Path by Tammy Tate showing a couple in silhouette with a horse in the foregroundCharacters are definitely a demanding sort. Much like cats and women. 😉  Without giving too much away, please share a bit about your favorite scene from THE SPIRIT PATH.

One of my favorite scenes has to be when Nicole and Flaming Arrow camp beside a lake with a beautiful waterfall and she removes her long sleeve shirt, exposing her cami. In modern day, it’s considered appropriate attire. But in 1812… it’s a brazen choice. She doesn’t realize the impact until she looks up to find him staring as though she just stripped completely naked. Her reaction is priceless…

I like the sound of that set-up! THE SPIRIT PATH is on my TBR list and I look forward to discovering more about it. Right now I’d like you to share a single sentence – – yes, only one! – – of dialogue or description you love.

His gaze latched onto the thin straps at her shoulders, down to the slight hint of cleavage of her well-rounded breasts, and then roamed lower to the bare skin just above her Wranglers.

And I wonder what Flaming Arrow’s reaction is going to be in THAT scene 😉 This sounds like a fun and sexy read, Tammy. When you’re not writing what do you do to unwind?

That’s easy, I’m riding on the back of our Honda Goldwing with my husband on the front. We pick a direction and ride till noon, eat lunch and ride back. The world looks so much different on a motorcycle compared to viewing it from a car window. You see it, smell it… taste it in a whole new light.

I have a very close friend who loves motorcycle riding. She and her husband are both avid bike riders. I remember riding with my husband when we were younger and always enjoyed the experience, especially in the evening on back roads. You could feel the change in the air temperature when passing streams or dense woods, and the smells . . . just so lush and green.

I’ll move onto pets now, because pets and writers naturally go together like peas in a pod. If you have pets, tell us about them and whether or not they shadow your writing time and space.

My heroine has a palomino horse and a rottweiller just like the palomino horse and rottweiller I owned when I lived in the country. I actually wrote a much smaller version of The Spirit Path during that time in my life for a journalism/short story class I was taking. The version you’re seeing today is an expanded piece of work. It’s also part one of a three part series. I’m excited to say my contract is for the series so the other two will follow.

That’s fantastic, Tammy! And palominos are just beautiful.  From the time I was a little girl, we had a saying in my family whenever anyone blew out the candles on a birthday cake:  “Wish for a pony!” Even today, we still say that. I think everyone wants a pony when they’re little. How wonderful that you had a horse—and a dog! I did have a few of those, LOL.

What is your:

Favorite season:  Summer

Favorite type of music:  Country

Favorite color: Pink

Favorite animal: Horse

Sunset picnic or night on the town: Sunset picnic

I would take a sunset picnic too. And my sister would love you. Her favorite color is pink and she’s a summer girl. 🙂

Tammy, thanks for being my guest today. It was wonderful to have you visit and I wish you much success with THE SPIRIT PATH. I’m looking forward to reading it!

After she falls off her horse and hits her head she wakes up to unfamiliar surroundings only to find she has traveled back in time to the year 1812.

“What year is it?” She exhaled slowly, preparing herself for his response knowing that when she woke up this morning it was 1997.
