Mythical Monday:  Something’s Mything by Mae Clair

I know it’s Mythical Monday and I should be Mything but I actually have a blog tour kicking off today for TWELFTH SUN. The tour was supposed to happen way back in January, but if you recall, Lyrical Press was acquired by Kensington Books and it took a while for the dust to settle and new Kensington titles to be issued.

Book Promotions by Literary Nook Book was happy to work with me in delaying the tour, so here we are five months later, and it’s finally under way. Something is definitely mything from my blog today, but maybe the timing worked for the best as TWELFTH SUN is a breezy summer read.  Here’s where I’ll be should you like to drop by and say hello over the next few weeks:

And, since this is turning into a book update post, here’s where my latest WIPs stand:

I still hope to publish this title in June.

Takes place in October and over Halloween.
Should be ready for submission by the end of the month.

I’m going back to my roots with this one. Fantasy/horror was my first genre as an author.

Mythical Monday will return next week as usual. In the meantime, I’d love to know what you’re working on at present, or news on your latest release. Please share!

The Unexpected Curve Ball by Mae Clair

Dear Friends,

In the event you haven’t heard the news my publisher, Lyrical Press, has been acquired by New York house, Kensington Books. Lyrical will become the digital imprint of Kensington. While this opens new opportunities and potential for Lyrical authors, it’s also created some unavoidable issues.

For the present, until contracts can be signed between Kensington and its new roster of authors, Lyrical has pulled their books from online retailers. As I had just kicked off a blog tour for TWELFTH SUN, I’ve had to cancel that tour. I’m grateful to Literary Nook, my touring company, for their understanding of the situation. The book tour wouldn’t have made much sense without the ability for readers to purchase my titles. Even though they already had bloggers and reviews lined up, Literary Nook willingly cancelled the tour and invited me to contact them again whenever I am ready.

If you had planned to visit me during any of my stops, that tour is now in a holding pattern. It may be thirty to sixty days before my titles are available again. Hopefully, sooner than later. The good news is that if I sign with Kensington, WEATHERING ROCK and TWELFTH SUN will be available through POD as well as digital format. As soon as I know more, I’ll share the news. None of this however, changes what I had previously planned for indie pubbing SOLISTICE ISLAND and ECLIPSE LAKE.

It feels extremely odd not to have my titles available for purchase right now, almost as if a safety net is missing. When the dust settles, whatever the outcome, I believe it will be for the better. Apparently, 2014 threw me a curve ball right out of the box. An exhilarating one, but a challenge nonetheless as I work to get everything back in order. That pesky New Year, LOL!

So, although I’ve had to cancel my tour temporarily, new adventures await on the horizon!

Best to all of you,
Mae

Halloween and Twelfth Sun by Mae Clair

October has officially arrived, bringing with it the promise of pumpkins, colorful leaves and cozy hearth fires. As noted earlier in the week, I’m roaming to various blog haunts the beginning of the month, including two today.

My friend and Lyrical Press sister, Laura Lee Nutt is interviewing me on her blog. She came up with a host of unique questions, so in addition to talking about TWELTH SUN, we’re also discussing archeology, favorite books and antiquities.

Brynna Curry's 31 days Banner 2To celebrate Halloween, I’m a guest at Brynna Curry’s blog, In Shadows, for her 31 Days of Halloween festivities.

It’s a post I’ve shared before about nautical superstitions, but perhaps there’s a new one that’s struck your fancy. Why not join me and select one? Everyone needs a favorite nautical superstition, LOL.

Happy Friday!

My Address for the Day by Mae Clair

Whew! It seems like I’ve been everywhere this week (and for the last two months). Today marks the end of my blog tour for TWELFTH SUN with a guest appearance at Romance Lives Forever. I’m sharing a list of nautical superstitions, then taking a well deserved break. It’s Friday, the weekend is around the corner, and I’ve got a vacation coming up.

I intend to relax on the beach, read, and pen some notes as I plan my Mothman mystery novel which I’ll be tackling in November during NaNoWriMo. Look for some nervous posts from me about that one as the time grows closer. In the meantime, if you have a moment, hop over to Romance Lives Forever and say hello. Happy Friday!

The Way of the Dinosaur by Mae Clair

Today I’m visiting with Lorraine Paton, a fab writer I met during the days of Six Sentence Sunday. Even though SSS has since gone the way of the dinosaur, I have fond memories of those days and, of course, Lorraine. 🙂

She’s trotting out a short series of interview questions for me today during her What to Read Thursday feature. If you’ve been following me around for a while (and I know I’ve been haunting a lot of blog spots, especially over the last two months since TWELFTH SUN released) you might be pretty confident of my answers.

But she threw something new out with her first query, something no other interviewer has asked before. Curious what the mystery question is all about? You can find the answer here (along with a few others as well).

I promise it has nothing to do with dinosaurs, although if you’re interested my favorite is the pterodactyl.

What’s yours?

Friday the 13th Fun by Mae Clair

It’s Friday the 13th! *cue spooky music*

One of my best friends from childhood was born on the thirteenth of January. I remember how she used to love when her birthday fell on a Friday, as it made it extra special. 🙂

In case you’re wondering, yes I am superstitious — about a lot of things. But I don’t have problems crossing the paths of black cats, not forwarding chain emails for fear of catastrophic reprisals, or even opening an umbrella in the house. Pish!

On the other hand, I’m not fond of the number 13, won’t tempt fate by visiting a haunted house, or go exploring a cemetery in the dark. I am  however going visiting today. And so are my characters 🙂

You can find me hanging out with my friend and Lyrical Press sister, Jessi Gage, who interviews me about TWELFTH SUN (I loved her questions!) here.

Elijah and Reagan (the hero and heroine of my romantic mystery) have decided to venture elsewhere and are being interviewed by my friend and Lyrical Press sister, Joanne Wadsworth. You can find their chatty interview here.

bigstock-Abandoned-haunted-house-on-a-h-23959007In closing, here are some interesting facts about Friday the 13th:

Paraskavedekatriaphobia and Friggatriskaidekaphobia are scientific terms used to describe fear of Friday the 13th. I, on the other hand, have a mild case of Triskaidekaphobia, which is fear of the number 13. Hmm. It must stem from childhood and that old black-and-white movie called Thirteen Ghosts. Anyone remember that? I think it terrified me as a kid.

And did you know most hotels don’t have a thirteenth floor, skipping right over it?

~ooOOoo~
An example of my superstitious nature:

Each year the company I work for (on my day job) holds an annual “Kick-Off Event” in January. It’s a fun time where the company leaders provide a review of the previous year and kick-off the new year with a fresh set of goals. We have a lovely buffet lunch at a country club and spend the afternoon socializing. I book the venue and arrange everything. When I started planning 2012’s event I was horrified to realize the Friday we wanted fell on the 13th (we always hold it on a Friday). I was adamant and no one argued
— you can’t kick-off a New Year on a Friday the 13th!! So that year, we moved the event to Tuesday. Fortunately, I already checked the calendar and we’re in the clear for 2014. 🙂

Happy Friday the Thirteenth! I hope to see you at Jessi and/or Joanne’s blog haunts if you’re able to visit!

An Attraction to the Sea by Mae Clair

Sailing boat silhouette at sunsetIt’s Thursday, the week is almost over, and the weekend is hovering on the horizon. YAY! Once hump day is past, I always tend to be more excitable. Okay, giddy. Weekends mean more time for writing. 🙂

Today, I have an extra reason for feeling upbeat. My good friend, Debbie Peterson, has invited me to her blog to discuss my “attraction to the sea.” Please drop by if you get a chance to share your own comments about what attracts you to the ocean and its enchanting folklore. You can find the post here.

LeSigh! What’s yours?

Saturday, I share my list of the Top Ten Things I Enjoy on Laurie’s Thoughts and Reviews blog. I guess it’s no secret writing ranked number one on my list. 🙂 Come see what else I covet and share some of your favorites.

Happy Friday, everyone! 😀

Setting Sail with Twelfth Sun by Mae Clair

Happy Tuesday, friends! After several weeks of distinctively un-August-like weather, summer has decided to make a reappearance in my small portion of the world. Who knows…I might even get to use my pool again before it’s time to close it up around Labor Day!

bigstock-The-ancient-ship-in-the-sea-17385386Aside from the swimming I plan to do, I also have a busy week planned for TWELFTH SUN as I set sail in the blogging world. If you’d like to shadow me this week, I can be found at the following haunts:

Tuesday, I’m one of the authors being showcased by the Little Read Hens on their Facebook page. They’ll be sharing excerpts and blurbs throughout the day from multiple authors, and engaging in fun conversation. Drop in if you have a moment, say hello, and chat for a while.

Tuesday, I’m also a guest at the ranch of Calisa Rhose for a Q&A. And I’m doing a giveaway! If you’re still waiting to pick up your copy of TWELFTH SUN come over and comment for your chance to win a Kindle copy!

Wednesday, I let Elijah and Reagan do the talking as Jennifer Lowery interviews my hero and heroine from TWELFTH SUN. I think these two had as much fun with the Q&A as I did. And, I’m doing yet another giveaway, so you’ve got a chance to snag a copy of my romantic mystery, TWELFTH SUN.

Thursday, I’m delighted to introduce you to a new release by author Christina Cole. Christina and I became friendly after I read her fab novel, HAPPILY EVER AFTER. I’ve invited her to visit, answer some questions and share her latest release, SUMMERTIME. Love that name!

Friday, the tables are turned as I make a guest appearance on Christina’s blog, Time for Love, and answer her questions about my writing technique and TWELFTH SUN. I’ll also be sharing my idea of the perfect romantic date among other things. LeSigh! What’s yours?

Saturday, I share my list of the Top Ten Things I Enjoy on Laurie’s Thoughts and Reviews blog. I guess it’s no secret writing ranked number one on my list. 🙂 Come see what the rest were and share some of yours.

Wishing you all a fantastic week! I hope you’ll be back on Thursday to say hello to Christina, and I hope to see you around the blogosphere as I go sailing with TWELFTH SUN!

Friday Tour Stop for Twelfth Sun by Mae Clair

Twelfth Sun Tour BannerTGIF! I’m always happy to celebrate the last day of the work week.

This Friday is an extra fun day because my good friend Donna Cummings has invited me to hang out on her blog for a Q&A as part of her Friday Friends series. I’m thoroughly jazzed to be her latest victim, er guest. 😀

Donna always makes me laugh with her tales of “humorously ever after romances” and her questions were no different. Drop by for some fun as we embrace a thoroughly frivolous Friday!
