It’s my pleasure to have D. Wallace Peach on my blog today with her newest fantasy release, Liars and Thieves which is book one in a brand new epic fantasy series. Diana’s books are always rich in world building with intriguing, fully-fleshed out characters and plot lines that leave me in awe of their complexity and dexterity. I love that I can step into a vividly imagined world and lose myself in the beauty of her writing. She has a remarkable gift with words, and I’m honored to be taking part in her blog tour.
At one point, the story suggests that all people are changelings. Diana explains what that means:
I’m intrigued by the idea that our choices define who we are, and that we have the ability to remake ourselves every moment of every day. We have the power to “change.” This applies to our appearance but, more importantly, to our thoughts and beliefs, how we speak and behave, whether we approach others with defensive hostility or kindness and compassion. We have the choice to seek a better world, a healthier planet, or to contribute to chaos. And simply by changing out choices we can become whole new people. That’s powerful!
I know the book will be powerful, too. Check out this trailer!
BLURB:
Behind the Veil, the hordes gather, eager to savage the world. But Kalann il Drakk, First of Chaos, is untroubled by the shimmering wall that holds his beasts at bay. For if he cannot cleanse the land of life, the races will do it for him. All he needs is a spark to light the fire.
Three unlikely allies stand in his way.
A misfit elf plagued by failure—
When Elanalue Windthorn abandons her soldiers to hunt a goblin, she strays into forbidden territory.
A changeling who betrays his home—
Talin Raska is a talented liar, thief, and spy. He makes a fatal mistake—he falls for his mark.
A halfbreed goblin with deadly secrets—
Naj’ar is a loner with a talent he doesn’t understand and cannot control, one that threatens all he holds dear.
When the spark of Chaos ignites, miners go missing. But they won’t be the last to vanish. As the cycles of blame whirl through the Borderland, old animosities flare, accusations break bonds, and war looms.
Three outcasts, thrust into an alliance by fate, by oaths, and the churning gears of calamity, must learn the truth. For they hold the future of their world in their hands.

Author Bio:
D. Wallace Peach started writing later in life after the kids were grown and a move left her with hours to fill. Years of working in business surrendered to a full-time indulgence in the imaginative world of books, and when she started writing, she was instantly hooked. Diana lives in a log cabin amongst the tall evergreens and emerald moss of Oregon’s rainforest with her husband, two dogs, bats, owls, and the occasional family of coyotes.

LOL. I barely get off my couch, Pete. And you’re right about our ability to change. It’s powerful and loaded with responsibility. A lot of us have reinvented ourselves several times. 🙂 Have a fabulous day and take care. ❤

These wildfires are something else, Diana. Yesterday the air quality was awful in our neck of the woods. We should be okay here as temperatures are moderate close to the ocean, but it was so eerie going outside yesterday with so much darkness during the middle of the day. I don’t know where you are up there, but we’ve had several friends who’ve had to evacuate from Medford and Ashland.

We were practically choking a couple of days ago, Pete. The sky is better today, just yellow. I feel so sorry for everyone along the west coast who is losing their homes and their lives. I saw photos of Medford his morning. It’s just tragic. Stay safe, my friend.

Love your thoughts on changlings, Diana. I do believe that while we can’t always choose our circumstances, we can choose our attitude and how we handle those circumstances.
Best of luck on the book!

Thanks for stopping by to read and comment, Joan. I’ve always been fascinated by the immense power we have to reinvent ourselves… as writers, family members, in our approach to others, our ability to change lives. Lots of responsibility comes with that too. I hope you have a beautiful, peaceful day. I appreciate the visit. Take care. 🙂

Hey, I just had a thought. (Alert the Media!) If we are Penderpals because we both love the Pendergast books and we are Dresdenphiles because we both love that certain wizard, can we be Peachpickers because we both love Diana’s work??? 😀 😀 : D

You make a very good point, Diana, that all people are Changelings. When I look at how I was twenty years ago as opposed to now, I can see it. I can’t see it on a day-to-day basis, but only in the rearview mirror. Great post! Thank you for hosting, Mae!

Thanks for the visit, Jan. I think about the power of choice in personal and global transformation all the time. We could stop all wars tomorrow, if we all made that choice. I agree that hindsight is huge, and sometimes looking backward is eye-opening. Chance and choice. But there’s so much power in going forward too and there’s great responsibility in that. Yikes, I could chat about this stuff for hours. Lol.
Have an amazing day, my friend. ❤

Jan, when I look back on myself twenty years ago, I sometimes think “who was that person?” LOL!
We definitely change. It’s good that we learn from those changes, too.

I looked at changlings as strange, mythical creatures, but you’ve made me see them/us in a whole new light. Great post, Diana and Mae

Nice, Jacquie! Fantasy is such a broad genre that changelings will probably be different from book to book. The creative flexibility is fun as well as challenging. Thanks for stopping by Mae’s to take a peek at the post. I appreciate it! Have a great afternoon and Happy Writing! ❤

What a great comment, Jacquie! I always thought of changelings as mythical creatures too (I even wrote about one in a novella), but Diana’s post puts a whole new spin on the idea.

INFJs are the quintessential changeling 🙂 My mood, attitude, even tone, changes depending on who I’m with. D nailed it with this observation.
Loved seeing Liars and Thieves here, Mae. It’s a fabulous book / series!

I totally agree, Jess. As an INFJ myself, I notice that I’m way more outgoing in Blogland than in real life. And I’ve often toyed with the idea of making up a whole new identity for my book bios – something completely fantastical but real enough to make readers wonder. Lol I’ve also considered doing that every time I move, but I’m way too lazy to keep the details straight. Honesty is easier. 🙂 Thanks for stopping by! Take care of yourself, my friend.
