As a writer, we’re all faced with various levels of research. Sometimes it’s something simple we have to investigate. Other times, it can involve days, weeks or even longer. If you’ve followed my blog for a while, you know I recently spent an exhaustive amount of time researching the spiritualist movement of the late nineteenth century for Cusp of Night.
Today, I’m a guest at Romance University with a post about writers and research. Cusp of Night is mystery/suspense novel, not romance, but whatever your genre, we can all relate to the research that goes into bringing our characters and settings to life.
If you have a moment, pop over and share your thoughts about the hows and whys of your own investigative habits!
Popping over to read! Mae, as you know I am smitten by the subject matter of your latest book and all the research involved … can’t wait to learn more! Btw I love the image here! 😀

Thanks, Annika. I loved researching my latest.
Thanks too for mentioning the graphic image I used. I went back and forth debating between two (the other was a magnifying glass on a stack of old books). Looks like I chose the right one 🙂

I have also done a lot of research lately, Mae. For both While the Bombs Fell coming out in August and my new nameless book about the ghosts of Bungay. It is good fun but time consuming.

Research can definitely be time consuming, Robbie. I’ve been fortunate in that I found the subjects I was investigating absolutely fascinating. It made the hours fly by!
