Update and Book of the Month #ADesolateHour

Weekends are too short, but this one was productive. Hubby and I grabbed breakfast at Panera’s Saturday morning, then hit Home Depot followed by the grocery store. Afterward, he worked on home projects while I hit eight—yes, count ‘em EIGHT—stores for various items I needed. Two of them were furniture stores (I need new dining room furniture) where I snapped photos on my iPhone to share with hubs later. I’d planned to make a veggie pie and chicken for dinner, but the evening ran too late so we ended up ordering pizza instead.

I got to see the first episode of the new Once Upon a Time—my absolute favorite show on television. I wish I could say I’m gonzo about it, but it’s too early to tell. I adore Lana Parilla and her character, the Evil Queen/Regina Mills/Roni, but I’m not sure how she’s going to fare in this new setting and storyline. Time will tell.

Book cover for A Desolate Hour by Mae Clair shows a small town overlooking a river at night, full moon overhead, cover in wash of green red and black with white letteringI spent Sunday working on an author presentation I have to do later this week. I still have a lot more to do on it, but the worst is behind me. I was also gobsmacked to learn that A Desolate Hour was chosen as the Book of the Month by book reviewer Kevin Cooper of the blog Books and Music. If you’d like to take a looksee at what Kev had to say about ADH and my Point Pleasant series, you can find his post here.

I’ve got a busy and exciting week ahead, including shopping for a new iPhone. In two weeks, I leave for Florida and vacation. In the meantime, I’ve got some cool guest bloggers coming up along with a few posts from yours truly. Stay tuned!

Happy October and Happy-Almost-Halloween!

  1. That is a lot of stores… Hope you found your new dinning room set. I wasn’t sure if I would watch new Once Upon a Time, but I did. I will keep watching to see where it is going. I agree, time will tell with the new storyline. Congrats on book of the month! Happy October and almost Halloween.

    • Still looking for the dining room set but I’m narrowing things down.
Yeah, the new OUAT was kind of…eh. But I was addicted to the series, and I love that Lana Parilla seems to have inherited the plum role, so I’ll keep watching. 🙂

  2. You’ve had a very busy weekend; thank goodness, a vacation is on the horizon! Congratulations on A Desolate Hour being selected as Book of the Month. The review convinced me that it is a must read! Hope today is relaxing… 🙂

    • Hi, Gwen. I’m late in replying because I was working on round 2 edits from my publisher (there’s always something on the to-do list, LOL). I’m looking forward to vacation and planning to unwind and definitely relax. Thanks for the congrats and the kind words about A Desolate Hour. Wishing you a happy week!

  3. How awesome that Kevin featured A Desolate Hour. It was such a good book! Best of luck finding the new furniture you need. Sometimes, it’s like looking for the proverbial needle in the haystack. 🙂

    • So true, Jan. I have 3 more stores on my list and then I’ll definitely make a decision!

Kev is a great reviewer and I was thrilled to see A Desolate Hour turn up there. Thanks so much for sharing in my happy dance 🙂

  4. Sorry I’m late to the party, but woo-hoo! BOTM over at Kev’s place–congrats! I stopped watching OUAT after season, um, two? Maybe I only made it halfway through two. I’m a Supernatural girl myself (Team Dean!) Okay, I’m off to try and catch up with all the other blog posts I’ve been missing for the past week …
