Happy Friday! Can you believe the week warped past at light-speed? At least it seemed that way to me. Probably because I had one of those just-aren’t-enough-hours-in-the-day weeks. I have a lot of those lately, but this one pushed the boundaries of overload. I did, however, have two really nice surprises amid all of the bounce-of-the-wall craziness.
WEATHERING ROCK was a Silver Finalist in Cheryl Bradshaw’s First Chapter contest. Each month, Cheryl accepts fifty entries from which she chooses a winner. Sure, I would have liked to have finished first, especially with the extra promo she gives the winner (not to mention a $20 Amazon gift card) but I was happy to silver from among 50 entries. You can find info for Cheryl’s December contest here.
But I did mention TWO lovelies, right? 😀
As for the second, I’ve been horribly remiss in posting reviews WEATHERING ROCK has received and I’m going to change that starting now. I even have plans to add a review page to my website and blog. It’s a wonderful feeling to have someone review your novel and learn they’ve enjoyed it. I’m grateful to my readers who have taken the time to post reviews and also to the great reviewers out there who have included me on their reading/review lists.
On Thursday, I discovered a wonderful review from Lisa at the Tea and Book Blog. She said some stuff that made me grin, but my favorite was her closing which read, in part: “A nice read for those of you who love paranormal and wacky things. Honestly the ending of this book made the whole story soooooo amazing. I was crying like an idiot. Read this book and feel the magic in the air.”
Yeah, I’m glowing a bit. 🙂 I do every time I get a review, but this one hit when I was feeling overwhelmed, and struggling with the precarious see-saw of juggling too much. Perfect timing, especially on top of Cheryl’s email informing me about my silver in her First Chapter contest.
What a perfect way to end the week!
Mae, that is awesome news! Congrats to you. And I love the review — because the ending of WEATHERING ROCK had me crying too. I’m glad all the great news came to you when you needed a little boost. It makes it twice as good to hear it then. 🙂

Fabulous news, Mae!! I’m so excited, as I just know there’s still more praise coming your way for WEATHERING ROCK’S amazing story and for your wonderful writing. I’m not at all surprised by you being a finalist in The First Chapter Contest. And as far as all the nice reviews, they have been lovely, I’ve been enjoying keeping up with them as they go up. And, BTW, you know I was also crying during my reading those last chapters! This is only the beginning! 🙂
Oh, and very cool on all the exposure you’ll be getting from The First Chapter contest win!!!
